MARLA ULLOA is a native of Los Angeles and is an adjunct professor of TV and Film at California State University, Los Angeles. She is highly recognized as an exceptionally talented film director and producer. Her passion for justice has guided her commitment to creating stories that are true to life and that represent unique voices. Marla's talents have not gone unrecognized; she received the Hollywood Foreign Press Association award in 2008, 2009, and 2011. Marla was awarded a Hispanic Scholarship Fund in 2011 and the Susan G. Steiner award in 2011. Marla has directed music videos, commercials, documentaries and several short films including Deadly Site, a short horror film and a daring and controversial documentary L.A. Car Thief, which was screened with high regards at Cannes International Short Film Corner Festival. Her thesis film Buried Secrets, reveals how a violent civil war in Guatemala during the 1980's continues to effect Guatemalan families living in Los Angeles today. Marla is currently working on developing Buried secrets into a feature.
